History and further information

Since its foundation in 1997, Profümed Karlheinz Lohr e.K., based in Brand-Erbisdorf in Saxony, has specialised in the manufacture, processing and distribution of cellulose and nonwoven materials. From the outset, the company followed the principles of its founder Karlheinz Lohr, always pursuing the aim of quality leadership while taking account of customers’ often highly specific needs.

With our products, we have developed over recent years into a knowledgeable point of contact for all matters relating to the production of medical and cosmetic cellulose products. In meeting individual customer requirements, we are committed to finding suitable solutions and advising our customers on all their concerns.

Our private-label manufacturing offers another major advantage: we create product packaging with individual designs according to customer requirements. Profümed has been certified for many years to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and DIN EN ISO 13485:2016 (certification for medical devices).

1997
Profümed Karlheinz Lohr e.K. founded, initially with one swab machine and two part-time employees.
2000
Permanent employment for staff thanks to increasing order volumes.
2002/2003
Concept and planning for a new swab machine.
2004
Expansion of production capabilities with an in-house-built rotary press and compress sewing machine.
2007
Construction of the new swab machine completed – developed and built by Mr Lohr himself. 10th anniversary.
2010
Takeover of the business by Mr Georg Scheffer.
2011
Expansion of production, product range and team.
2012
15th anniversary of Profümed Karlheinz Lohr e.K.
2014
Completion of a new production and logistics hall and construction of a second swab machine.
2015
Acquisition of the cellulose wadding manufacturer in Grimmenstein, Austria, since known as Profümed GmbH.
2017
20th anniversary of Profümed Karlheinz Lohr e.K.
2018
Development and production of sustainable insulated pouches and insulated boxes for pharmaceutical and food shipping in e-commerce.
2020
Expansion of production and storage space at the Brand-Erbisdorf site in the St. Michaelis district by 12,000 m².
2022
25 years of Profümed.
